PRESS RELEASE

BST Pro Mark® INTRODUCES FLEXO CI REGISTER CONTROL SYSTEM

BST Pro Mark® has introduced the AR200SA, a closed-loop make-ready register control system for Flexo CI presses. This unique product will substantially reduce make-ready time, material use and labor by bringing jobs on Flexo CI presses into proper register in less than a minute.

The product is the only stand alone make-ready register control system on the market, and is designed for retrofit installations on CI presses with motorized lateral and/or linear register control. The system can also be retrofitted onto gearless presses.

Using a unique register mark pattern which is easily added to existing plates and sleeves, the AR200SA will control up to 12 colors on a single press and will bring register to within ±0.004”, automatically within just a few rotations of the CI drum.

The benefits of such a product are substantial. On press trials have confirmed the significant financial impact of this unique system:

  • Reduced set-up material use
  • Reduced set-up labor
  • Reduced set-up time
  • Increased press running time
  • Increased overall press productivity
  • Improved overall press profitability

Research has shown that a typical 8 color press uses 3600 feet of material per make-ready, or 450 feet per color, per make-ready. The make-ready process includes setting impression, bringing each station into register (which is typically done one station at a time), and then making final adjustments to color and to register. Bringing each station into register typically consumes the most time and the most material of the make-ready process. The AR200 reduces this to approximately one minute and less than 200 feet of material for each job.

Using a material cost of $0.06 per thousand square inches, material savings alone amount to $43.20 per make-ready.

An 8 color press, running 30 jobs a week will realize estimated material savings of $1,296 per week or $67,392 per year. In addition, the converter will experience reduced labor for make-ready and substantial additional press running time, resulting in an estimated annual impact of $125,000.

Converters interested in receiving a detailed analysis showing the cost impact of the AR200SA should contact BST Pro Mark®.
