IMAGE PROBLEMS
· Check that both camera boxes are the correct distance from the substrate.
· Check that the bottom of the shroud of the camera box is parallel to the substrate.
· If image is Black/White, check the connection at the back of the camera, check that the main cable is not kinked.
CAMERA TRAVERSE PROBLEMS (MOTORIZED)
· Check that the belt is positioned correctly on the traverse, and the belt does not roll over the nylon rollers.
· Check that each camera box will move without binding from
one end of its traverse to the other, and that the box is not loose
on the traverse.
· Check that all cables are securely attached (inside and outside
of chassis and camera box).
PICTURE IS UNSTABLE
HandyScan® Classic, SUPER HandyScan®, Hawk
· Verify that correct gear count is put
in.
· Check for missing teeth on gear.
· Clean and space sensor properly to gear.
· Check to see if GEAR LED is on when press is running, on
main controller board.
· If using a reset sensor, make sure that the gear count
reads how many reset marks per repeat.
NO IMAGE ON THE MONITOR, BUT CAMERA CONTINUES TO STROBE
HandyScan® Classic, SUPER HandyScan®, Hawk
· Make sure monitor is powered up.
· Check monitor setting for optimum brightness and contrast.
· Check Iris levels for optimum light input.
· Double check all video connections, inside main chassis, camera, and monitor.
CAMERA IS NOT TRAVERSING
SUPER HandyScan®
· Check pulley system for kinks or breaks in belt material.
· Check limit switches, making sure that they are not engaged.
· Verify motor is receiving 12 volts.
· Check to see if gear is tightened to motor shaft.
Hawk
· Check pulley system for kinks or break
in belt material.
· Check limit switches, making sure that they are not engaged.
· Verify indexer is receiving 24 volts.
· Check to see if gear is tightened to motor shaft.
CAMERA WILL NOT STROBE
HandyScan® Classic, SUPER HandyScan®, Hawk
· Check strobe connections on camera controller board.
· Check F STB 1 LED, on the main controller board, is blinking when the camera is in snapshot mode.
· Do a "flashlight test" by shining a flashlight into the front of the camera to verify the camera module is still taking pictures.
STROBES DO NOT FLASH IN "RUN" MODE
(Put system in "SNAPSHOT" mode. If strobes flash and the image updates, most likely there is a synchronization problem)
· Sensor not connected
· Sensor out of adjustment
· Sensor not installed
· Defective
System Settings:
· Ratio is incorrect in "System Setup"
· Timing devices not set up correctly in "Job Save"
IMAGE ON THE MONITOR IS BLACK (STROBES FLASH NORMALLY)
· Monitor turned "OFF" (check power indicator)
· Monitor unplugged
· Monitor controls are not set correctly
Lens Controls:
· Iris is closed
· Zoom is set to maximum magnification on a dark image or off the web
IMAGE ON THE MONITOR IS WHITE
Lens Controls:
· Iris is open too far
· Zoom is set to maximum magnification on a white image
IMAGE ON THE MONITOR CONTINUOUSLY MOVES UP OR DOWN
Synchronization problem:
· Gear count set incorrectly
· Gear sensor dirty or has picked up metal fragments
· Gear sensor positioned too far from gear
· Gear sensor not mounted perpendicular to gear face
IMAGE ON THE MONITOR WIGGLES, WOBBLES OR IS WAVY
Electro-Magnetic Fields:
· An electro-magnetic device generating strong magnetic fields, such as a motor or another monitor is too close to the viewing monitor.
· An electro-magnetic device generating strong magnetic fields, such as a motor or high power cables is too close to the main cable or video cable.
IMAGE ON THE MONITOR IS UNCLEAR AND CANNOT BE FOCUSED
· Bottom of camera box is not parallel to web.
· Bottom of camera box is not the correct distance from the web.
· Camera glass or lens is dirty.
· Diopter is missing or is loose.
· Focus mechanism in lens is binding.
IMAGE ON THE MONITOR APPEARS TO BE SMEARED OR FLICKERING
Ambient Light:
· Camera housing cover not installed.
· Strobe or shroud cover not installed.
· Too much (too bright) ambient light.
SHADOWS AROUND THE IMAGE ON THE MONITOR
Transparent film:
· Backer too far from web.
· Bottom of camera box not parallel with web.
· Strobes not adjusted for minimum shadow.
LEDs DO NOT LIGHT AFTER SYSTEM INITIALIZATION
· Check that the cable is secure on the back
of the keypad.
· Check that cable is secure on the back of the chassis sensor
board PCBs.
· Check for power indicator on the keypad PCB.
· Check that 5v regulator is secure to board.
· Check that camera box motor (if motorized) energizes at the
same time the LEDs illuminate.
